You Give Love A Bad Name by Quirk Polish

Hi NaiLovelies!

I have a true beauty of a polish to show you today and it is also the first UK indie polish I have tried so far so I am super excited! This is the absolutely incredible You Give Love A Bad Name by Quirk Polish from the limited edition Heart Shaped Music Box collection 2014. This is the perfect glitter topper for any Valentines manicure for those who enjoy a little bit of shimmer in their nail lives…!

You Give Love A Bad Name is a full on mix of pretty glitters which complement each other perfectly. The polish is a cacophony of matte slightly translucent medium sized white/pearl heart glitters, hot pink glass hex glitters, metallic soft pink small hex glitters, iridescent metallic small hex glitters, matte white bar glitters AND a smattering of  dark pink metallic micro glitter squares all suspended in a clear base!

The formula of this polish is much like the other indie glitter bombs I have in my modest collection. The bottle is completely jam packed full of glitters and as such it is a little on the thick side however, it applies easily to the nail thanks to the base which resulted in a good distribution of each type of glitter. I found that there was no fishing required for this polish and it brushed onto the nail easily without the need for dabbing or glitter placement. I think the brush works well with this glitter, although it is a bit smaller than my personal size  preference for brushes.

You Give Love A Bad Name dries incredibly fast. I applied two easy coats to accent nails and followed this up with a thin coat of Seche Vite topcoat. I wanted a textured feel to the accent nails to work alongside the super glossy Shellac Strawberry Smoothie manicure this was paired with.

Quirk Polish was placed firmly on my radar after seeing swatches from UKNailRunner which can only be described as AWESOME! As soon as I saw those swatches I knew this polish had to be mine – go ahead and check them out and you’ll see what I mean!

I thought I'd add these final pictures which were taken with my DSLR camera.  I think they capture the  beauty of the polish very well, it's just a shame that I don't know how to use the camera properly yet - but I'm learning!!

In hindsight, I could have just applied one coat of You Give Love A Bad Name because I think this would have showcased the true beauty of this polish much better. Sometimes, less is more. You live and learn. Luckily, because this is over gel I was able to remove the glitter from the middle finger using acetone free polish remover and I also added a spot of stamping using my fabulous PUEEN buffet plates which arrived today.  My middle finger has just one coat of  this fantastic topper and I like the way the glitter looks when it is sparse.

Being new to indie polishes and I didn’t even know so many UK brands existed. I am having so much fun finding out about these brands and cherry picking the perfect polishes for my stash. They are certainly worth investigating…!
