IBD Urban Edge Collection

Hi NaiLovelies!

I've been busy swatching the 'new' IBD winter collection, Urban Edge.

This collection has been out for a while in the US but took a little while to reach UK shores but I'm super glad to have these gorgeous colours to share with you.

Before I get to the swatches, I just want to tell you that the formula of all of the creme polishes in this collection are fantastic.  I experienced zero shrinkage with these polishes and I was happy to discover that most of the collection are two coaters, with the exception of a couple which took three coats.

The glitters are pretty and work well as toppers but I wouldn't wear either of them as standalone polishes as I would end up with more base than glitter on my nails.  I found both of the glitters a little tricky to apply as too much brushing resulted in the glitter brushing off the nails.   I stored both glitters upside down before application and I fully intend to pour out a third of the gel base so the ratio is reset to one which works better for me.

Now, it's time for the swatches......

First up we have Street Wise, a beautiful deep taupe creme.  This is the perfect shade for autumn and would look incredible with nail art.

Application was perfect and this swatch shows two easy coats.

Brazen Beat is an uber bright almost neon shade of orange.  The crelly formula has a thinner consistency which means that it could have done with four coats but I could get away with three for this swatch because my nails are shorter than usual.

Brazen Beat is hands down my favourite from the collection and it is an incredibly unique shade of gel polish, I don't own anything else quite like this!

Painted Pavement

Painted Pavement is a pale grey with strong lavender and blue undertones which makes it lean quite blurple.

When I first saw Painted Pavement I thought this would and dupe for IBD Iceberg minus the shimmer but I'm happy to report that they are not alike.  It is rather a tricky little trickster to capture on camera but I think I got there.  My swatch shows three coats as this one was a little streaky on the first and second coats.

Catwalk Alley
Catwalk Alley is a perfect blackend bugundy very similar to the gorgeous Channel Rouge Noir.  My swatch shows two easy coats.

Although I have seen variations of the colour in other brands I am happy to have this in my collection because of the perfect two coat formula of Catwalk Alley.

Metro Pose

Metro Pose is a gorgeous deep teal creme which is similar to OPI Amazon Amazoff, although they are not identical.

My swatch shows two coats and as with the others, Metro Pose has a perfect formula.

Glam Ave.

Glam Ave. is a really pretty glitter polish with golden hexes, copper holographic and black  micro glitters all mixed into a clear base.

This gel polish works best as a topper so I have applied one coat over the delicious Street Wise.  Glam Ave. was the first polish from this collection and I used it in this gorgeous Autumnal Shades' manicure.

Luxe Street is a fab dark purple creme which is applied in two super easy coats with zero shrinkage and no flash curing.

Luxe Street is pretty much a dupe for Perfectly Paisley but is possibly a shade lighter.  If you have Perfectly Paisley you don't need this one but if you don't I'd say get you some Luxe Street, because it's gorgeous!

Canned Couture

Canned Couture is another pretty glitter topper, this time at the cooler end of the spectrum with silver almost gun metal hexes with holographic and silver micro glitters all mixed into a clear base.

I have applied one coat over the delicious Painted Pavement.

Overall I am really happy with the colours in this collection - I just wish the UK could distribute the new collections sooner as it is now almost Spring so some of these colours now seem a little out of season - although they are still very pretty no matter what time of the year and are great additions to my IBD collection.

  1. Hey there Sim- how does Street Wise compare to LeChat Utaupia? Street Wise appears more chocolatey.

    1. Hi gorgeous!!! I don't have LeChat Utaupia I'm afraid. It is a gorgeous brown and applies perfectly.

If you check out my 'Client' page (at the top of this blog) there is another picture of this polish which would give you two versions of the same polish to compare to Utaupia. This is a fab polish though and I am very happy to have it in my collection :)

  2. Thanks for posting these - I just found your blog and love it! I'm wondering - how does Metro Pose compare to IBD's Hippie Dippie?

    1. Thank you! :)

Hippie Dippie is a lovely saturated blue with an element of dustiness to it. Metro Pose is a green toned teal. They are both very different from each other so I wouldn't compare them at all.

If you want to PM me via my Facebook Page I can send you a picture of both side by side 😊
